Objectives and Outcomes for Classical Languages in the core curriculum (area V)

Objective I: develop an intermediate-level reading competence in either Classical Greek or Latin

Outcome: be able to read, with the aid of a dictionary, a passage of moderate difficulty in the target language

Objective II: through the reading of texts in the original language to engage in a sophisticated manner with the culture that produced them

Outcome: be able to comment on the literary, intellectual, cultural and historical aspects of a selected passage read in the target language
