Who is the future, you ask? Try that 10 year-old-boy staring at his mom’s iPhone watching various YouTube videos. The truth is, children ages 6-13, commonly known as Generation Z, are being forced into a technology-driven society. Advertisers are using new techniques, such as target marketing, in order to steer these kids in a certain direction while they surf the web. The future of media audiences is being planned for these children every time they open up Safari on an iPhone, iPad, or other technological device. They see the brand names that they know and love and they fall for the trap that these advertisers set up. It is sad to say, but these children don’t seem to stand a chance against these tactics.
