Developers, designers, programmers. Everyone needs to have an understanding of what making an accessable site. So, it aid in this quest, here many ways of developing for various types types of disabilities.

Auditory

Auditory issues are usually defined as individuals who are hard of hearing. For user with auditory difficulties:

  • Provide Captions for all multimedia content
  • Provide transcripts for content like podcasts and interviews
  • When applicable, utilize sign language.

Cognitive

Cognitive dissabilities are disabibilities that include intellectual or cognitive deficits. For user with cognitive difficulties:

  • Use simple, consistent page layouts
  • Don't use animations, multimedia with flashing lights, distractions.
  • Use natural, easily understood language.
  • Provide images, charts, breaks long text

Physical Disabilities

For users with Physical Disabilities:

  • Provide simple, consistent page layout.
  • Avoid time-limited selections
  • Provide multiple ways of interfacing with content
  • Provide broad interaction areas (e.g. entire Youtube player acts as play/pause button)
  • Avoid design that has difficult, precise navigation

Visual Disabilities

For users with Visual disabilities

  • Always provide alt text for images in HTML
  • Provide useful text descriptions for images, graphs, etc
  • Use high contrast colors
  • Let text be easily scaleable without breaking formatting things like navigation
  • Allow full keyboard support for navigation
  • Provide text description for things like colors, especially in e-commerce settings
