LA 211A
midterm
spring 2010

Write, in English, a letter such as Seneca might have written, beginning with the following sentence:

You have disappointed me again, Lucilius.

You may take this letter wherever you wish, provided that whatever you write is consistent with Seneca’s philosophy, social attitudes, and writing style as we know them from the letters read thus far in class.

Your letter should be between three and four double-spaced pages in length.  Send your letter as a Word document attached to an e-mail addressed to rosivach@fairfield.edu.  Please type your return e-mail address at the top of the first page.  This assignment is due on Saturday, March 6 at 11:59 pm, but may be submitted at any time before that.  Except for illness or other similar emergency, there will be no extensions.  Late assignments will be penalized a letter grade per day.

This midterm assignment will account for 20% of your semester grade.  Treat it with appropriate seriousness.
