November 11-14, 2010 - Jessica M. Davis represented our chapter at the Annual Meeting & International Research Conference held at the Raleigh Convention Center in North Carolina.


March 7, 2011 - Faculty Research Talk featuring David Winn, Ph.D., Professor of Physics will speak on his topic, "The Search for The Higgs Boson/Origin of Mass, Dark Matter, Symmetry Breaking, and miniblackholes/extra dimensions at the Big Bang Machine - the CERN Large Hadron Collider."

Monday, March 14, 2011 - The Library Multimedia Room was the setting for Dr. Lawrence Wangh, Distinguished Lecturer - who gave an open talk to Sigma Xi members entitled, "The Role of Serendipity in Scientific Discovery: a personal account."

Tuesday, March 15, 2011 - Dr. Wangh was the guest lecturer in biology course BI 261 Genetics on "Perfect PCR." Class meets at 8:00 a.m. in BNW 138. View Bio

Thursday, April 28, 2011 - This year's 11th Annual Student Poster Session was held in conjunction with the Undergraduate Research Symposium. The Sigma Xi session was held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Barone Campus Center and featured 41 projects involving 59 students in scientific research. Students submitted their research project by emailing a completed application to Laura Dancho by April 18. View event booklet.


Wednesday, May 18, 2011 - at 11:00 a.m., the Sigma Xi Reception and Induction Ceremony was held in the Diffley Room of Bellarmine Hall. Twelve students and two faculty members were officially inducted into our chapter - View Photos.
