Getting to the Workshop

Fairfield University is conventiently located near several airports, train stations, and major highways. When calculating the best and most cost effective way to travel, remember to take into account the airlines that serve each airport, as well as the frequency of service, the number of connections, and costs such as public transportation from the airport (if available), taxi, or car rental costs, and tolls.

Amtrak has service with stops at the Bridgeport, CT station on several of their routes. The Bridgeport train station is 6 miles from Fairfield and has taxi service. Taxis are always waiting for the trains - (203) 334-6161.

Metro North provides train service between Grand Central Terminal, New York City and New Haven, with a train station in Fairfield which is 1.2 miles from campus and has taxi service. Click here for MTA schedules.

Fairfield Cab Company is located at the Fairfield train station and cabs are always waiting for the trains - (203) 255-5797

Once you are Here:

  • The Fairfield campus is very walkable, with trees, ponds, and walkways all around campus. Parking is plentiful and free. When on campus, we will walk to our various venues.
  • When we travel to New York City, a bus will transport us to the Fairfield train station and we will take Metro North into NYC. Once in NYC we will take the subway and do a lot of walking. A bus will return us to campus from the Fairfield train station.
  • Mini vans with University drivers will be available at designated times to transport Summer Scholars to lunch or grocery shopping.
