The purpose of the Public Lectures and Events Committee is "to assist faculty in planning and organizing public lectures and events on campus," "to help heighten the promotion of student-organized public lectures and events on campus," "to facilitate faculty inclusion of campus public lectures and events into their curriculum and syllabi," and to have a representative "attend and participate in meetings of the Marketing and Communications Committee of the Board of Trustees . . . per the standing invitation of the Board."  Fairfield University Faculty Handbook, Eleventh Edition (2013), p. 14 .
