Climate change is one of the foremost environmental problems of our times. If efforts are not made to limit the emissions of fossil fuels, the earth’s temperature will continue to rise, causing major environmental and health effects for all of earth’s inhabitants.
The climate of the Earth has naturally changed over time since it’s creation, however in times since the Industrial Revolution, human actions have contributed to the distortion of the earth’s atmosphere. Excessive burning of coal and oil, known as fossil fuels coupled with deforestation (cutting down of trees and natural land for urbanization or building) have caused the build up of heat in the atmosphere due to an increased concentration of greenhouse gases, which prevent heat from being released into outer space. Though the greenhouse effect and greenhouse gases are natural and necessary to maintaining normal temperatures of earth, superfluous amounts have lead to an overall change in climate, which will prove damaging to our Earth.
