Guidelines for Nomination |
Associate Member: Any individual who has, through initial research achievement in a field of pure or applied science, shown aptitude for research which is exected in due course to lead to the fulfillment of the requirements for full membership, is eligible for election to associate membership by a chapter or the Committee on Qualifications and Membership. Student Eligibility Criteria Based on the definitions stated above by the society, any student who has shown research aptitude and intent according to the following two guidelines is eligible for election to associate membership of the Fairfield University Chapter of Sigma Xi.
Nomination Process Any active Sigma Xi member is able
to nominate one or more eligible students, of senior status, for associate
membership into the Fairfield chapter. Nominations should include:
Nominations will be made on an annual
basis, and will be reviewed by the chapter Admissions Committee, a committee
of four active members that serves for three years. The Admissions Committee is responsible for
reviewing student nominations, and electing to membership those students
that meet the criteria as described above. Student Dues Students elected to associate membership will have their first year student dues and initiation fee paid by the chapter. This fund will be established by contributions from individual departments and with membership. |
