Meet Our Faculty

Introducing our faculty mentors for the 2016 program:

Paul BaginskiPaul Baginski, Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Professor Baginski received his Ph.D. in 2009 from the University of California, Berkeley and joined the Fairfield faculty in 2013. Dr. Baginski's research spans across several fields in mathematics, from logic to algebra and number theory. He has been particularly interested in measuring the wildness of number systems where numbers can factor in multiple different ways as a product of "primes". Dr. Baginski indulges in his wanderlust by traveling around the world, learning languages, and tasting new cuisines. He is also a huge movie buff, from the silent era to the present.

mark demersMark Demers, Associate Professor of Mathematics
Professor Demers received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Courant Institute at New York University in 2003 and joined the faculty at Fairfield University in 2006. Dr. Demers's research interests are in dynamical systems and ergodic theory, with an emphasis on systems that exhibit chaotic behavior and are inspired by dynamical models from mathematical physics. When not immersed in mathematics, he enjoys racing about with his two young children who tire him out constantly. As a corollary, he is addicted to coffee.

Janet StriuliJanet Striuli, Associate Professor of Mathematics
Professor Striuli received her Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in 2005. Commutative algebra has been the focus of her research during her thesis, her postdoctoral years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and during her time at Fairfield University, where she as been a faculty member since 2008. When not thinking about mathematics, Professor Striuli works really hard to keep up with her children and enjoys eating good food (a lot).
