While there are a variety of methods used to uncover possible funding sources there is no one clearinghouse for all of this information. Some of this information is available to you as you consider various projects for funding. Some of those sources are:

Fairfield’s Office of Advancement Research will conduct
comprehensive prospect identification for interested faculty
once a project is submitted to Development through Foundation
and Corporate Relations.
2. Online Resources
Guidestar - A useful guide to finding the recent tax returns (IRS Form 990) of private foundations and other private grant-making non-profits. Of particular interest are the lists of grants made during the tax year by an organization.
Securities and Exchange Commission - Used mostly by the financial and investor community, the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, Retrieval system (EDGAR) database has the most recent financial information about publicly traded U.S. companies. This free service usually posts data within 24-hours of submission to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
GrantAlert.com - This site was developed by three people whose main work involves helping people and organizations find the funds they need to make good things happen for the benefit of others. Most of their work is in the area of improving education and helping our children become more successful students and people. This website leans heavily in favor of helping those involved in fundraising for education causes.
Internet-Prospector (Corporate Infomation) - This site represents links to free major corporate databases on the web relevant to researching a corporation. It is useful for finding other types of information about potential corporate sponsors from press releases to websites to corporate profiles.
Internet-Prospector (Corporate Giving Information) - Although the narratives associated with this website are very dated, the links are still valid connections to many corporate sites.
